
- Force Corporation formed a joint venture partnership with Village Roadshow to run cinemas throughout NZ. The joint venture was known as Village Force.
- Village Force opened and ran many cinemas, its first being in Manukau in 1991
- In 2002 SkyCity purchased the majority of shares in Force Corporation and re-named it SkyCity Leisure.
- This resulted in a joint venture called Village SkyCity which operated all of the Village Roadshow cinemas.
- One of the highlights for Village SkyCity was the launch of Queen Street IMAX in 2003 - at the time NZ's largest screen
- In 2006 SkyCity Entertainment purchased the remainder of the shares in Village SkyCity
- By 2007 all of the Village Cinemas, Village Force Cinemas and Village SkyCity Cinemas had been re-branded as SKYCITY Cinemas.
- During the whole history, the various entities have maintained a 50% shareholding in Rialto Cinemas.
